Hydraulic Pictures (“we,” “us”) is a video production company in St. Louis, Missouri. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how we handle it. The short version: we collect only what we need to do your project and get paid, we don’t sell it, and we keep it only as long as our business records require.
What we collect
- When you contact us or fill out our project form: your name, email, phone number, organization, role and the project details you choose to share.
- When you hire us: the information needed to do the work and bill for it, such as contacts at your organization, billing name and address, and invoice and payment records.
- Payment details: payments are handled by third-party payment processors. We don’t collect or store your full credit card or bank account numbers.
What this website collects
This site doesn’t use analytics, advertising trackers or marketing cookies. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, for security and to keep the site running. The site also loads a few outside services:
- Google Fonts, for our typefaces.
- Embedded YouTube videos, shown in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode.
- Our project inquiry form, provided by 17hats.
Those services may receive basic technical information, like your IP address, and they follow their own privacy policies. The links to our social media profiles take you to those platforms, which have their own policies too.
How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiry and discuss your project.
- To plan, produce and deliver the work.
- To send invoices and receive payment.
- To keep the business, accounting and tax records we’re required to keep.
- To comply with the law or protect our legal rights.
We don’t use your information for advertising, and we don’t send marketing emails unless you’ve asked us to.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers that help us run the business, such as website hosting, email, our inquiry and invoicing system, payment processors, and our accountant or tax preparer. They get only what they need to do their job.
- Authorities, when the law requires it, or when it’s needed to protect our rights or someone’s safety.
- A new owner, if the business is sold or merged, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Project and billing records are generally kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, typically up to seven years. After that, we delete or securely dispose of them.
How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including using reputable service providers, password-protected accounts and secure connections. However, no website, email system or storage method is completely secure, and we can’t guarantee that information will never be accessed without authorization.
If there’s a data breach
If we learn that your personal information has been accessed without authorization, we’ll investigate promptly. We’ll notify you, and any required authorities, as required by applicable law. Some of our information is stored with third-party service providers, and they’re responsible for securing their own systems. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hydraulic Pictures isn’t liable for unauthorized access to information that results from events beyond our reasonable control, including security incidents at third-party providers.
Project footage and materials
Footage, photos and other materials created during a project are governed by your project agreement, not by this policy.
Your choices
You can ask us what personal information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We’ll honor deletion requests unless we’re required to keep the information for legal, tax or accounting purposes. To make a request, email us at the address below.
Children
This site isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed.
